Community Friendship Group fete is on Monday, April 4, from 2pm to 4pm at Jerusalem Capel Vestry, Gwscwm Road, Burry Port. There will be craft stalls, raffle and cakes. £1 entry includes refreshmen­ts.

Mama Mia! singalong Join us on Wednesday, April 6, for an afternoon of watching Mamma Mia! and singing your hearts out. Entry £5 with refreshmen­ts. Doors will open at 1.30pm for tea and birthday cake and the film will begin at 2pm at Jerusalem Chapel Vestry, Gwscwm Road, Burry Port where there is plenty of parking. We are a friendly, informal group called Singing for the Soul. We survived lockdown and this is our way of celebratin­g our third birthday. New members are very welcome so if you haven’t been before, do come and give it a try. Open to men and women,no experience or commitment required. With no expectatio­ns, no judgements, and no auditions, we offer an afternoon of singing uplifting, entertaini­ng songs in a group of like-minded people. There is plenty of room in the hall to spread out and there will be Covid safety measures in place. Burry Port Opera We have resumed rehearsals on Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm in the

Memorial Hall, Burry Port. All new members are welcome, singers, particular­ly gentlemen, and non-singers, and help needed with other skills, stage sets, costumes, etc. For enquiries please call Bob on 01554 833630.

Burry Port Bowls Club The green will open for playing on Saturday, March 26. The season ticket cost is same as last year and the treasurer will be at the clubhouse each Wednesday at 2pm until the end of April to collect subscripti­ons. The cost of playing without a season ticket is £3 per person per hour. You can only be registered as a player upon purchasing a season ticket. Our first competitiv­e game is Saturday, April 30, so please come along and practise.

Meals on Wheels Provided by Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council every Monday and Wednesday lunchtime a home-cooked hot meal delivered to your door by volunteers. Delivery free to Burry Port and Pembrey postcodes. Main meal and dessert £5 per person. Lighthouse Library Bookswaps This is to close in Burry Port Bowls Club as it is the start of the bowls season. At the time of writing new premises are urgently needed to continue to run this for the community. We accept donations of good-quality books, board games and jigsaws when we are open.

Burry Port Male Choir We are resuming rehearsals at 7pm on Mondays and Thursdays at the Burry Port Memorial Hall. If you want to sing and join a great group of men, come along to the rehearsal. Nothing to worry about as there is no audition. Your town choir needs new members.

Welsh conversati­on Every Wednesday at the Pembrey Country Inn, Welsh speakers and learners of all levels are welcome to join in for some conversati­on and fun. (The quiz has resumed on Tuesdays at 8pm. Advisable to book due to Covid restrictio­ns at the moment and available space and tables).

Pembrey and Burry Port Photograph­ic Society meets this evening and every Wednesday at 7.30pm in Hermon Chapel, Pembrey. New members of all standards are always welcome. For further informatio­n ring 07974 001049.

Pembrey and Burry Port Historical Society has resumed activities. Please note we now meet in the Ashburham Hotel at 7pm on the second Tuesday in the month. Our next meeting is in April.

Harbour Music and Poetry Usually meet every Monday at 7.30pm in Burry Port Yacht Club.

It is a community project enabling people of all ages and abilities to share their musical and literary skills. It takes the form of ‘open mic’ and special guests and audience are warmly welcomed.

Ty Golau Dementia Charity Trust Ty Golau therapeuti­c group for people with memory problems meet every Monday morning from 10.30am-noon at Canolfan John Burns Centre, Carmarthen Road, Kidwelly. Every session is specifical­ly aimed to stimulate the brain in a non-threatenin­g, fun way. Please come along to excercise your brain, meet friends and have an enjoyable morning. Garden Club The Pembrey and Burry Port club is unable to resume meetings due to extensive repairs taking place at the Community Hall, Pembrey, our regular meeting venue. The committee are waiting to hear from the town council when the hall will be available again to discuss resuming meetings.

Yoga This is usually held at 10.30am every Monday (except bank holidays) with Richard Rees at £4 per person per session in the main Memorial Hall.

Cefn Sidan U3A Congratula­tions to Mary Hubbard who recently celebrated her 100th birthday. She is a founder and dedicated member of our branch and ran the drama group for many years. She has been enrolled as an honorary member. March meetings continue as follows: tomorrow is the discussion group at 2pm on subjects TV licence payment plus positive discrimina­tion. Friday at 10.30am is keep fit. This is the last class as it is suspended for the summer. The creative writing group may restart soon. Monday the drama group is at 2.15pm. Felinfoel

Felinfoel WI met on Friday, March 11. Words of welcome were followed by best wishes to absent members who are ill or in hospital. Various trips have been organised for the coming months plus a Queen’s jubilee celebratio­n for June. A pre-loved fashion show is being arranged for August as well as a summer tea. A crochet class will start after Easter in Adulam vestry. We continue to support the Llanelli Women’s Refuge and are also now donating to the Ukraine Aid Appeal. There will be a County Quiz in May and the 200 club was won by one our members. The highlight of the evening however was an absolutely fabulous fashion show very kindly put on by Ann and Jan of the A11 clothes shop in Llanelli Market. WI members modelled colourful beautiful items of clothing and accessorie­s, as well as eight-year-old Layla and friends of A11 who volunteere­d to walk the “catwalk” – Cindy, Layla and Gemma! Local photograph­er Mike Richards also kindly volunteere­d to attend and captured the show on camera for which we are very grateful. Refreshmen­ts followed. The raffle was won by Janet Surman and the competitio­n was won by Mary B. Meetings are held every month at Adulam vestry and new members are welcome.
