Community council There is to be a formal gathering of the outgoing council from 7pm on Thursday, April 14 in the Memorial Hall conference room. In May a newly elected or appointed community council will take charge of both the authority and as members of the Memorial Hall Trust. It is anticipate­d some councillor­s may be retiring. Post Office hours Located in CKs supermarke­t the Post Office now operates six days a week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm; Saturday, 9am to 3pm and is closed on Sunday.

Chemist times Monday to Friday trading hours of the local pharmacy are 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 5.30pm. Inside the store there is a maximum of two customers at any one time.

Library hours The local library in the Memorial Hall operates on Mondays from 3pm to 7pm and on Thursdays from 9.30am to 1.30pm. There is a free internet service, DVDs and audio books for hire. Inquiries during library times can be made to Anja on 01269 870891.

Digital aid Age Cymru Dyfed offers people aged 50-plus hands-on help to introduce and develop the use of digital technology. Through free telephone sessions, often led by Haroun Varden, help is given through tasks enabling older users to be comfortabl­e with digital links. Dementia group Ty Golau, a therapeuti­c charity group for adults with memory issues, meets every Monday from 10.30am to noon at the John Burns Centre, Carmarthen Road, Kidwelly. Tumble

Cross Hands Cinema is open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. Films showing in March and April are listed on the Facebook page, together with certificat­ion and a synopsis. The cinema will be closed for Easter on Friday, April 15, Monday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 19.

Tumble Family Centre provides support and activities for families in the community. It is open from 9am to 3pm from Monday to Thursday. Contact the centre for more informatio­n and in case you need to book a place on an activity. A ‘community shelf’ or small food bank is available inside the entrance to the building.

Mobile library The county mobile library is available in the car park opposite the hall on Tuesdays from 1.45pm to 4pm. You can request any item available in any of the public libraries in Carmarthen­shire free either through the online catalogue or ask the mobile library staff. For those who may not be able to visit the mobile or other library, the book swap shelves will be available in the old library in the hall again soon. You may bring a book and swap it for another or just borrow a book and bring it back.

Urdd National Eisteddfod 2023 The Urdd National Eisteddfod will be held in Carmarthen­shire next year; it was postponed from 2021, of course. Many people know that local groups are set up to raise money to help meet the costs of the week long eisteddfod and all the associated activities held in that week. The group for the Llannon Ward (Cross Hands, Cwm-Mawr, Llannon village and Tumble) was given a target of £10,000.

The members of the group are all volunteers and were able to meet again last week, two years after the last meeting, to plan ways to reach the target by next year. The next meeting is on Wednesday, April 13, probably on Zoom. Anyone who would like to help is welcome.
