Ferocious dinosaurs on show
FORGET your average Easter eggs – a different kind of Easter celebration is set to take place this half-term as Llanelli Dinosaur Eggstravaganza comes to the town centre on Tuesday, April 12.
Organised by Ymlaen Llanelli Business Improvement District (Bid), the free event will see ferocious dinosaurs putting on a show in Stepney Square from noon to 3pm.
Dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes join the line-up for the day, from a live hatching of baby dinos to a visit from the mighty Tyrannosaurs Rex, Allosaurus, Spinosaurus and more.
A more traditional Easter activity will also be taking place in Llanelli town centre as Ymlaen Llanelli’s Easter Egg Hunt begins on Saturday, April 9.
A total of 10 wooden Easter eggs will be hidden in business windows for egg-hunters to find over the halfterm holiday with maps available in St Elli Shopping Centre.
Each entrant will receive an Easter treat from Llanelli Library, while one lucky winner will be chosen to receive a special Easter hamper.
Ymlaen Llanelli chair Lesley Richards is looking forward to the Bid’s Easter festivities.
She said: “It’s been so long since our friends from Dinomania have been to Llanelli town centre and we can’t wait to see them. After the popularity of our dinosaur trail last summer, we’re expecting this event and our Easter Egg Hunt to be real hits!”
Next up on the Bid’s calendar of events is the highly-anticipated Llanelli 80s Festival and Armed Forces Day, which makes its return on Saturday, June 25, after two years of restrictions.
The event will see the town centre taken back to the 80s with music tributes including Madonna and Michael Jackson, and iconic pop culture cars on display. It kicks off with a veterans’ parade at 11am while the music lineup begins at 2pm.
