Luckless midfield ace facing up to more time on the sidelines

-

SCARLETS centre Scott Williams is facing another spell on the sidelines, with boss Dwayne Peel striking a cautious tone over a shoulder injury his man suffered on Saturday night.

Williams was forced from the field late in the first half of his side’s 35-20 victory over Cardiff after injuring his shoulder while reaching out in an attempt to score a try.

Peel revealed Williams didn’t have much movement in the joint and that the outlook wasn’t great.

“He’s got a sore shoulder and it doesn’t look great from where he is now,” he said.

“He’s not got very much movement in it.

“I think it’ll settle down in the next 48 hours, we’ll get him scanned at the start of the week and then we’ll see where we’re at with it.

“Obviously it’s disappointing for him because he’s been excellent, as everyone knows.

“It was just when he was reaching out for that try. He was millimetres short.

“It’s too early to tell, it doesn’t look great at the minute, but we’ll see.”

The Scarlets and Cardiff will face each other agin on Saturday at the Arms Park (3.10pm).

The weekend victory has lifted the Scarlets to 10th in the URC standings with games in hand on a number of their play-off rivals.

Peel added of his side’s display: “Intensity-wise we were good, we had a good platform up front.

“The nature of these couple of weeks is really exciting.

“I’m sure there’ll be a warm welcome in Cardiff next week and it will be a different game.

“We spoke in the changing room afterwards, we are delighted with the win, but there will be a fresh challenge for next Saturday.”
