ANDREWS GOAL DENIES CHAMPS

-

CAMFORD Sports delivered a superb performance to draw 3-3 at home with LTC Mobility Carmarthenshire League champions and West Wales Intermediate Cup finalists Trostre in the Senior Cup.

Just when it looked as if a hat-trick from Luke Jones had wrapped up the points for Trostre, Joel Andrews rescued a draw with the last kick of the match.

It was his second goal of the game, and there was also one for Jack Roberts.

Playing their first game in Group A of the same competition, Llangennech made the best possible start with an eye-catching 4-1 win at home to Evans & Williams Reserves.

There wasn’t much between the teams in the opening stages, and it took the home team 37 minutes to score the opener through striker Craig Frater.

Llangennech were on top for most of the second half, so it came as no surprise when Alex Davies grabbed their second in the 57th minute. Two more goals in the space of eight minutes from Frater and Liam Fry secured the points.

There is no change at the top of Group B, and Pontlliw continue to set a hot pace following a hard-earned 3-2 win against visiting FC Carmarthen. Danny Smale, with two goals for the home team, was the difference between the teams.

Division two champions Caerbryn were playing their first game in Group C of the competition, making ground advantage count in a 4-1 win against Tumble United. It was 1-1 at the break.

A couple of well-taken goals by Cameron Jones helped give Caerbryn the edge, while Matthew Howell and Joe Lewis also netted.

A goal from Rhydian Williams gave Tumble hope of getting something from the game, but they ran out of steam in the second half.

Seaside are setting the early pace at the top of the Group D table, and kept their unbeaten record intact with a comfortable 4-0 win at home to Ammanford Town A.

The deadlock was broken in the 23rd minute when the referee awarded Seaside a penalty, with Ross Jones making no mistake with his spotkick. The same player doubled the advantage five minutes later.

The second half continued in the same vein, as Leon Bonifacio added a third five minutes after the restart and another in the 60th minute.

Kidwelly followed up their midweek win by defeating visiting Llandovery Town 5-1 to complete their programme in division one.

Striker Robert Hammond again made his mark with two goals, and there was one each for Liam Martin, Robert Davies and Ollie Mackie. On target for Llandovery was Rhys Bailey, with all six goals scored in the first half.

In reserve division three, Bwlch Rangers need four points from their last two league games to clinch the title following an 8-2 win at Llandeilo Town Reserves. Because of their vastly superior goal difference over closest challengers FC Carmarthen Reserves, three points is likely to be enough.

Four of the goals for Bwlch were shared equally between Jason Morris and Ben Lewis, with others to find the back of the net Shane Price, Chris Lewis, Timothy Cranford and Kynan Holmes.

In the other game played in the division, goals from Ethan Daniels, James Becker, Aaron Thomas and James Hughes helped Llangennech A to a 4-2 win at Bancffosfelen Reserves.

Burry Port Reserves made it four wins from four in Group A of the Darch Cup by beating Felinfoel Reserves 6-2.

Josh Element scored twice with Ross McFarlane, Ryan Hopkins, Steve

Summerfield and Charlie Taylor also on target.

In Group B, FC Carmarthen Reserves beat Drefach Reserves 1-0. Josh Walsh grabbed the winner in the 93rd minute.

Dafen Reserves won 5-1 at West End United in the first round of the Chellenge Cup.

Kieran Brown scored a hat-trick, with Danny Hughes also on target. There was also an own goal. Thomas Williams netted for West End.

There was also action in midweek, and Kidwelly Town powered their way to a 14-0 win at home to Penllergaer in Group B of the Senior Cup. Striker Robert Hammond scored six of the goals.

Alex Kay was in the thick of the action with four goals, while Osian Lewis and Ethan Gamble scored a couple each.

FC Carmarthen are still on course to finish third in division one despite being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Drefach. The home team paid the price for missing a string of chances,

and a goal from Ben Thomas was only enough to pocket a point.

Dafen Reserves lost the chance to finish runners-up in division two when dropping vital points in the 2-2 draw against visiting Pontarddulais Reserves.

Goals from Kieran Brown and Elliot Jones weren’t enough, and Dafen have to settle for third place behind Evans & Williams Reserves and champions Caerbryn.

CK Swiss Valley A completed their reserve division three programme with a hard-fought 2-1 win at Caerbryn Reserves. Goals from Benjamin Luke Roberts and Asher Morris were enough to secure victory.

The home team replied through striker Owen Flowers.

The big game on Saturday is the one between Hakin United and Seven Sisters Onllwyn at Richmond Park in Carmarthen in the semi-final of the West Wales Intermediate Cup (2pm).

The winners play Trostre in the final.
