Labour back in control in town
THE Labour party is back in control of Llanelli Town Council – and Cllr David Darkin has been chosen as the new leader of the authority.
Labour is once again the dominant force on the council, with 15 councillors returned at the recent elections.
Cllr Darkin, who lives in Queen Victoria Road, represents the Bigyn ward.
He was first elected to the town council in May, 2016.
The council has organised the chairmanship of some of its various committees as follows -
Planning, licensing and consultation Chair: Councillor D. Darkin (Leader of the Council); Vice-Chair: Councillor N. Pearce (Deputy Town Mayor).
Building and finance Chair: Councillor A. McPherson; Vice-Chair: Councillor R. James.
Stebonheath development Chair: Councillor L. Fenris; Vice-Chair: Councillor G. Lloyd.
Selwyn Samuel Centre Chair: Councillor A. McPherson; Vice-Chair: Councillor S. Curry.
Llanelly House Chair: Councillor J. Williams; Vice-Chair: Councillor A. Lochrie.
Town twinning Chair: Councillor J. Elliottt; Vice-Chair: Councillor S. Evans.
Establishment Chair: Leader of the Council; Vice-Chair: Deputy Leader of the Council.
Ex-Town Mayors’ Chair: Councillor J. Jenkins; Vice-Chair: Councillor D. Darkin.
