Champs put their names in main draw

COMPETITION for the remaining places in the National Club Championship comes to a head this weekend with four of the six local sections left to be decided.

Kidwelly Town, the current Llanelli and District Bowling League champions, booked their place in the main draw with an expected home win over Pontarddulais in Section 4.

In Section 6, Loughor have all but qualified after beating Llanelli at Old Road.

However, they still have one remaining match to play – at home to Cwmaman this weekend – and will be expected to record a sizeable victory.

The remaining three sections all have deciding fixtures with the winners of Ammanford Park v Burry Port, Havelock Park v Park y Dre and Carmarthen v Graig Merthyr going forward to the national knockout stage.

For those clubs not involved in the final qualifying rounds, the quest for league success starts in earnest.

In the Premier division, Kidwelly Town visit Old Road to play Llanelli. In division one, newly promoted Crusaders play Calsonic Wanderers at Llethri Road.
