Samuel on target to seal cup win

-

AMMANFORD ended the week on a high by reaching the third round of the Nathaniel MG Cup.

They did it that hard way by fighting back from a goal down to see off Swansea University 2-1.

The students started the stronger of the sides, keeping Ammanford on the back foot with quick counter-attacks.

And they were rewarded for their enterprise when they opened the scoring midway through the opening half.

It came from another counter, with George Sellick hitting the bar before captain John Roberts put away the rebound.

But Ammanford were back on terms just before the break when Matthew Jones netted.

And Ammanford sealed their passage into the next stage when Liam Samuel grabbed the winner in the 66th minute.

Earlier in the week, Ammanford drew 2-2 with Ynyshir Albions in JD Cymru South.

Lee Trundle had given Ammanford a first-half lead, but the visitors rallied after the interval to take the advantage.

But they were handed two red cards in the closing minutes and Colin Harris made them pay with a late equaliser.
