Food Festival On Saturday, August 27, from 10am-2pm at Pembrey Hall and marquee by arrangemen­t of Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council. The stalls are free to residents of Pembrey and Burry Port. School Uniform Free Here at CURAD, which is based in the old police station in Kidwelly, we have lots of different school uniforms. Please come and have a look. It is all free but if you want to make a small donation, then you are more than welcome.

Fruity Fridays The town council will be giving free fruity goody bags to any children that register from Pembrey and Burry Port. To register children call 01554 834346 or send an email to our community developmen­t officer on louise. robinson@pembreybur­ryport-tc.gov.uk with the following details: Name and age of child/ children,home address, parent/guardian’s name and contact number. These details will be held only to reserve the weekly fruit bags and will be destroyed after the initiative is completed. Fruit bags can be collected every Friday between noon and 2pm from the front of the Memorial Institute building until the last Friday on August 28. Spaces are limited.

Players wanted Pembrey AFC are looking for Under-10s boys team players to train every Thursday at 6pm at Pembrey football pitch, Factory Road (moving up to Year 10 in September). All coaches DBS checked. For details contact Rhys on 07930 181296.

Lighthouse Library bookswaps Now open at 69 Station Road between the Co-op and the fish and chip shop. Closed Saturday 20th to Monday 29th. Back open August 30. Donations of books, board games and jigsaws accepted when shop is open. There is a children’s cosy corner. Most items are free. Hours liable to change at short notice as staffed by volunteers.

Welsh conversati­on Every Wednesday at the Pembrey Country Inn, Welsh speakers and learners of all levels are welcome to join in for some conversati­on and fun. The quiz has resumed on Tuesdays at 8pm. Advisable to book due to available space and tables.

Ty Golau Dementia Charity Trust Ty Golau theraputic group for people with memory problems meet every Monday from 10.30am-noon at Canolfan John Burns Centre, Carmarthen Road, Kidwelly. Food Forward Food Boxes Collaborat­ing with FareShare and Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council, Food Forward Burry Port is a Lottery funded project which will support residents in your area. The venue is 38 Station Road, Burry Port SA16 0LP. The opening times are every Tuesday between 11am and 5pm. £1 a year for membership then each week you will have the option of spending £3.50 or £5 for goods worth between £15 to £20.
