Rose pips Hunter on countback
CARMARTHEN Golf Club Seniors have played two very different competitions over the past couple of weeks.
Firstly, a fun competition in the form of three clubs and a putter in which two golfers came in with 39 points, with Robin Rose beating William Hunter on countback.
Two golfers also scored 38 points, and again it was decided on countback, with Eirwyn Roberts beating Danny O’Sullivan. Roberts went round the back nine and dropped only one shot.
The next competition was the more traditional 4BBB, with golfers having to contend with heavy drizzle for the first time in many weeks.
The scoring was still impressive, and coming out on top was Tony Jones and Peter Collins, whose 45 points was equalled by Paul McAll and Bruce Morris, and Ian Ritchie and Fred Steel, with the respective back nines deciding the positions. Similarly, John Bevan and Alan James were ahead of Len Davies and Clive Thomas, both on 44 points.
This week the seniors team play their penultimate home match of the season against Ashburnham, while the rest of the seniors will play an individual stableford competition.
