Impressive Reds move joint-top as unbeaten start to season continues

-

LLANELLI Town remain unbeaten in JD Cymru South courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Goytre United on Bank Holiday Monday.

Keane Watts slotted home the opener after only six minutes.

The Reds left it late to close out the game, with Nathan Logan doubling the advantage five minutes from time.

Llanelli have now won four and drawn two of their opening six matches under manager Lee John.

They sit joint-top of the table alongside Briton Ferry Llansawel and Taffs Well with hopes high of a good season to come at Stebonheath.

But Carmarthen Town’s impressive form stalled as they were beaten at home by Barry Town United.

It was just the Old Gold’s second defeat of the season and it saw them drop to fifth in the table.

A win here would have taken Mark Aizlewood’s men top, given previous leaders Briton Ferry and Taffs Well were both held to draws.

But they fell short. Barry’s goal was scored in the second minute, with Liam Warman on target.

To make matters worse for Carmarthen, Tom Dyson was sent off in the closing moments.

Meanwhile, Jordan Langley grabbed a brace as Ammanford defeated Abergavenny Town 2-1.

After a goalless first half, Abergavenny took the lead shortly after the restart through Dan MacDonald.

But their advantage did not last long, as just three minutes later Langley fired home the equaliser.

And in the 80th minute he handed his side all three points when heading home at the back post.
