Harbour Music and Poetry There will be no more Saturday afternoon music and poetry sessions at the harbour. We have resumed for our normal open mic weekly sessions 7.30-10.30pm at Burry Port Yacht Club. It is a community project enabling people of all ages and abilities to share their musical and literary skills. Audience warmly invited. Just turn up.

Yoga Sadly Richard has decided to cancel Monday morning classes for the foreseeabl­e future due to increased charges for the hall and no longer charging for 15 minute slots.

Burry Port Male Choir We rehearse at 7pm on Mondays and Thursdays (excluding Bank Holidays) usually at the Burry Port Memorial Hall. If you want to sing and join a great group of men,come along to the rehearsal.Nothing to worry about as there is no audition. Your town choir needs you!

Coffee mornings These resume in Jerusalem Chapel vestry at 10.30am every first Tuesday in the month. All are welcome.

Lighthouse Library Bookswaps Bookswaps is open at 69 Station Road between the Co-op and the fish and chip shop. Hours are Mondays 4pm-6pm,Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9.30am-2pm, second and fourth Fridays of month 9.30-noon and 4pm-6pm, first and third Saturdays of the month 11am-2pm. Donations of books, board games and jigsaws taken when open. There is a children’s cosy corner. Most items in the library are free. Hours liable to change as staffed by volunteers.

Short mat bowls The Pembrey and Burry Port club meet on Tuesdays at 7pm in Pembrey Community Centre, Mountain Road SA16 0AJ and invite you to try a free taster session. Any questions please contact Mary our secretary on 07773 187347.

Quiz night Every Wednesday 7.30pm at the Pemberton Arms. Maximum teams of six at £1 per person. Food served from 5-8.30pm.

Burry Port Opera We have resumed rehearsals on Wednesday evenings from 7pm-9pm in the Memorial Hall,Burry Port.All new members are welcome, singers, particular­ly gentlemen, and non-singers, and help needed with other skills such as stage sets, costumes etc. For enquiries please call Bob on 01554 833630.

Meals on Wheels Provided by Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council every Monday and Wednesday lunchtime, a home cooked hot meal delivered to your door by volunteers. Delivery free to Burry Port and Pembrey postcodes. Main meal and dessert £5 per person. Welsh Conversati­on Every Wednesday at the Pembrey Country Inn, Welsh speakers and learners of all levels are welcome to join in for some conversati­on and fun, 1-3pm. (The quiz has resumed on Tuesdays at 8pm. Advisable to book due to available space and tables.)

Monday, September 19, is the main meeting at 2.15pm with Debra John speaking on Coal Out – Copper Home.Tuesday, September 20, is Welsh history at 10.30am with Mike Clement speaking on the SOS or Save Our Sands campaign. Also that day is the short walk group at 2pm, meet at the station bus stop. Wednesday, September 21, the quiz group meet at 2.15pm in the Neptune. Thursday, September 22, the luncheon club are going to The Coracle, Carmarthen, for 1pm. Also Thursday, September 22, the discussion group meet at 2pm on the subject Should Girls Play Rugby?.Friday, September 23, at 2pm is creative writing.Monday, September 26, the drama group meet at 2.15pm and need new members. Tuesday, September 27, is Silver Screen trip to Llanelli by 11.55am bus (see Odeon website for film) cost is £3.50 if prebooked or £4.50 at the door which includes a drink and biscuit. New group Musical Gems meet Wednesday, September 28, at 2pm.New U3A members will be most welcome to meetings. Food Forward food boxes Collaborat­ing with FareShare and Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council, Food Forward Burry Port is a Lotteryfun­ded project which supports local residents. The venue is 38 Station Road, Burry Port SA16 0LP. The opening times are every Tuesday between 11am and 5pm. £1 a year for membership then each week you will have the option of spending £3.50 or £5 for goods worth between £15 to £20.
