Huw breaks silence to thank viewers for ‘kind messages’

-

HUW Edwards has finally broken his silence with a sweet message after leading “extraordinary” coverage for both the Queen’s death and funeral.

The Llangennech-raised presenter was live on BBC One when news of Britain’s longest-reigning monarch’s passing broke and led the broadcast for Her Majesty’s historic funeral on Monday alongside Kirsty Young and David Dimbleby.

Many fans were left blown away by Huw’s “calm and reassuring” commentary throughout, including stars such as Gary Lineker and Dan Walker, who applauded the host’s “exceptional” broadcasting skills.

Others have called for Huw to be knighted for his role in the coverage and have labelled him the most “professional newsreader in history”.

Since news of Her Majesty’s passing at Balmoral broke on Thursday, September 8, Huw has remained relatively quiet on social media. However, he has now broken his silence to thank viewers for the “kind messages” by sharing his own thanks to the “army” behind the scenes.

The humble host shared a series of stills of himself and the camera crews in the studio, as well as a poignant snap of a rainbow over Westminster Abbey. He captioned it: “Behind the camera – an army of the best talent in broadcasting. My thanks to them and to all of you for the kind messages. Diolch.”

Responding, one viewer wrote: “Thank you for your beautiful, sensitive narration. It was such a comfort to us all.” Another added: “The most superb coverage – a huge thanks to all involved.”
