PWLL SHOCKED BY NEW BOYS

CARMARTHEN­SHIRE League newcomers Ferryside produced a giantkilli­ng act to knock out Premier division side Pwll Athletic 3-2 at home in the first round of the Rooks Trophies Senior Cup.

The Seasiders were full value for their win as goals by Scott Thomas, Liam Lilly and Scott Maceachan earned them a place in the next round.

It took 120 minutes to settle the tie between Kidwelly Town and visiting Llandovery Town.

Despite trailing at one point, Llandovery battled back and equalised through Lewis Blofield to make it 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes. Chris Hyde netted the winner for Llandovery in extra-time.

Always in the thick of the action for the visitors were Sol Lake and Dan Pearce, who provided the assists.

In the remaining first-round tie, it took extra-time and penalties to decide the outcome between Loughor Rovers and visiting Trallwm, with the game ending 3-3 at the end of 120 minutes.

And it was Trallwm who made it through after a shootout in which Steffan Evans was the only player to score from the spot.

Rhys Thomas, Callum Thomas and Chris Ferrier netted for Trallwm in normal time.

There was also a major shock in the second round of the competitio­n, with FC Carmarthen knocking out Premier division side Burry Port 6-0 at home.

Striker Jordan Archer gave the Port defence the runaround with four of the goals, and there was one each for Terry Maynard and Ashley Williams.

Llangennec­h are also through to the third round, but were made to work hard for a 2-1 win at Ammanford Developmen­t. Goals from Liam Griffiths and Kevin Evans were enough to get Llangennec­h over the line.

It was always going to be a tough day for Caerbryn at home to Trostre AFC, for whom Jack James grabbed a hat-trick in a 9-1 win.

Four of the goals were shared between Jamie Jenkins and Rhys Griffiths, while Christophe­r Williams and Liam Jones also found the net.

The home team were gifted an own goal by hat-trick hero James.

Strikers Adam Scott and Dan Smale scored four goals each for Pontlliw, who beat visiting Llanerch Rovers 15-0, and it was also comfortabl­e for Felinfoel in a 7-1 win at home to Llansteffa­n.

Four of the goals were split between Jordan Badman and Tom Roberts,

with Matthew Ellis, Curtis Evans and Lloyd Francis the other players to get their names on the scoresheet.

Drefach proved too strong for KRUF in their own back yard, winning 12-1. Chris Gregory led the charge with four goals.

There were a couple of goals each for Jordan Thomas, Dom Bowler Edwards and Harri Thomas, plus strikes from Tryston Bateman and Chris Amos.

Johnstown beat Camford Sports 5-2. Steffan Davies scored twice, with Enes Kutluktemu­r, Ryan WheatlandS­tollery and Daniel Davies also on target.

The Camford goals were scored by Jack Robert and Jeremy Rees.

And Seaside won 7-1 at Ponthenri. Joel Andrews bagged a hat-trick, with Kieran Dawe, Sean Rogers, Steve Stone and Callum Thomas also finding the net.

Anthony Williams was on target for Ponthenri.

There was one game in the Premier division, and Gorseinon Athletic moved to the top of the table following a 7-2 win at Bwlch Rangers. Striker Matthew Brandon oozed class with two goals in each half, Daniel Hurford struck twice and there was one for Harri Cannon.

In the big game in reserve division one, Trostre AFC stay top of the table after a hard-fought 2-1 win at home to Pontlliw. Goals came from Cody Stephens and Anthony James.

Seaside Reserves won 7-1 at Dafen A. Carl Chant, Cody Williams and Jordan Oakley all netted twice, with Lewis Smith grabbing the other.

After losing their first two league games in reserve division two, Camford Sports got off the mark in no uncertain manner with a 6-0 win at home to FC Carmarthen.

Michael Mulica and Rhys Thomas made the pressure count with two goals each.

Also on target were Nathan Dee and Damion Walters.

There were maximum points for Felinfoel Reserves, who beat Tumble United 3-0 in their away clash thanks to goals from Craig Lewis, Steve Nicholas and Sean Andrews.

Jordan Fuge, Craig Griffiths and Kyle Thomas netted for Trallwm in the 3-2 win at Loughor Rovers A.

In reserve division three, eight of the goals for Pwll Athletic Reserves in the 10-3 win against visiting Llandeilo Town Reserves were shared between Steve Clohessy, Dioge Tome, Timothy Peter Johnson and Darren Bennett.

There was one each for Gavin Daniel John and Aaron Bockman.
