Pair offer over-55s free festive dinner
PEOPLE over the age of 55 in Pembrey, Burry Port and surrounding areas who will be alone on Christmas Day are being invited to a free festive dinner on the big day, all thanks to a kindhearted couple.
Craig and Isabel Goodman of Burry Port will be catering for people at the town’s Memorial Hall.
There will be no charge for guests to enjoy a two-course Christmas dinner, along with mince pies, a festive tipple or two, and good company.
Anyone from the Burry Port, Pembrey, Kidwelly or Pwll areas can come along.
The day is being supported by Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council, as well as donations from Castell Howell Foods, Parsons Pickles, Odd Jobs Owen, Taste, Gwasg y Gors, Phil Williams Cars, the Teapot Cafe, Jenkins Bakery, DJ UPVC, Huw Davies Associates and SweatTeez-Hoods.
It will be the second free Christmas dinner organised by the Goodmans following a successful event last year.
Isabel said the idea was first raised in early 2020 but the pandemic halted all plans for that year.
Looking ahead to December 25, she added: “Craig and I offer a warm welcome to residents of Burry Port and Pembrey, aged 55 and over, who will be spending Christmas Day alone, to join us for a free Christmas Day dinner at Burry Port Memorial Hall.
“People will be able to enjoy a Christmas dinner along with mince pies, a festive tipple or two and good company.”
