LLANGENNEC­H proved too strong for visiting Bancffosfe­len in winning 8-2 in the first round of the Carmarthen­hire League’s Challenge Cup.

Four of the goals were shared between Liam Griffiths and Tom Harris, and apart from being gifted an own goal in the 13th minute, also on target were David Lewis, Alex Davies, and Liam Fry, who completed the scoring in the 87th minute.

After sharing a 1-1 draw away to defending champions Trostre AFC the previous week, Seaside continued their rich vein of form and kept their unbeaten record intact with an eye-catching 4-2 win at home to Loughor Rovers.

Seaside stamped their authority on the game by shooting into a 2-0 halftime lead, both the goals scored by striker Joel Andrews.

The same player completed his hat-trick in the second half, while Curtis Phillips also netted.

There were maximum points for Burry Port, who made ground advantage count in a 2-1 win against Trallwm. Goals from Charlie Taylor and Sam Saer helped Port edge victory.

And in the first round of the TAD Builders Darch Cup, Pontarddul­ais Town Reserves lost 3-1 at home to FC Carmarthen Reserves after extra time.

FC Carmarthen’s goals all came from 47-year-old Simon Jones, who is in his first full season back playing after many years out. He is also the oldest goalscorer for the club.

Meanwhile, there is no change at the top of the table in division one, and Camford Sports remain in pole position after the 8-5 win at home to Evans & Williams Reserves. Striker Jack Roberts grabbed a hat-trick.

There was a couple of goals each for hard-working duo Daniel Anderson and Nick Lewis, plus one for Ralf McGibney.

Second-placed Caerbryn stay within two points of the leaders after a hard-fought 4-2 win against visiting Pembrey. It was 3-1 at the break.

The star of the show with a hattrick was the brilliant Lewis Rees, and there was one for Iwan Easton.

After failing to win any of their first four wins in the league, Drefach finally got off the mark with a stunning 7-0 win at home to Dafen Reserves.

Four of the goals were split between Harry Thomas and Chris Gregory, and there was one each for Jordan Thomas, Trystan Bateman and Dom Bowler Edwards.

A hat-trick by Chris Hyde wasn’t enough for Llandovery Town, who lost ground in the title fight when surprising­ly beaten 5-4 at home by Tumble United.

FC Carmarthen had few problems in overcoming Kidwelly Town 5-0 thanks to goals by Tom Walters (2), Ben Thomas, Terry Maynard and Lewis Byng.

Promotion-chasing Ferryside are one of two teams still unbeaten in division two, and made it four wins and a draw in five games when defeating Ammanford AFC Developmen­t 6-1 at home in division two.

Ferryside took control with a couple of goals each from Robert Hammond and James Yarnton, with Scott Maceachen and Andrew Harvey adding their names to the scoresheet.

The visitors battled to the final whistle and were rewarded with a penalty from Kian Nicklin.

Leaders Ponthenri are also unbeaten after beating mid-table Llanerch Rovers 5-1.

The home side’s scorers were Anthony Williams, Josh Lemon, Shaun Williams, Thomas Jones and Adam John.

Ponthenri are three points clear of Ferryside and Abergwili but Ferryside have a game in hand on them

and a superior goal difference.

There was no slip-up from reserve division three leaders Seaside, for whom the experience­d Cark Chant scored two goals in the 6-1 win at Drefach.

Seaside were on top for most of the 90 minutes, and added four more goals through Lewis Smith, Cody Williams, Jacob Mills and Joey Lloyd. The home team replied through Morgan Rees.
