CROSS COUNTRY IS BACK AGAIN

THE 2022-23 domestic cross country season began in Cardiff with the British Athletics Cross Challenge Series and John H Collins Gwent Cross Country League.

Llandaff Fields attracted hundreds of runners from across the UK and played host to the first fixture of the World Athletics Cross Country Tour – Gold Standard event for the second year in succession.

It also incorporat­ed the U13, U15, U17, U20, Seniors & Masters West Wales selection race ahead of the Welsh inter-regional championsh­ips next month.

Carmarthen Harriers and Llanelli Athletics Club finishing times in each age group were:

Novice Girls: Megan Evans (5:09), Paige-lily Williams (5:15), Aeronwy Morgan-Fisher (5:49), Elliw Mai Jones (6:14), Gwen Johansen (6:16).

The John H Collins Gwent Cross Country League programme is set to visit Blaise Castle, Bristol, and Pembrey Country Park before Christmas.

December’s event will be hosted by local club Carmarthen Harriers and will feature the West Wales Cross Country Championsh­ips.
