Bont fight back to hold Dafen to a draw

-

ONLY one league game took place in the Macron West Wales Premier League on Saturday.

Dafen Welfare made the short trip to Coedbach Park to take on Pontarddulais Town knowing that a win would put them level on points with South Gower and Morriston Town at the top of the table.

It was looking good for the Bluebirds when they led 2-0 at half-time after capitalising on two defensive errors from Bont to finish well via Zac Tinnuche and Jack Cutler.

Dafen, though, didn’t get the three points needed as Bont responded strongly after making some effective changes in personnel and shape to draw 2-2.

Both Bont goals were scored by former Carmarthen Town player Lewis Rocke.

Dafen extended their unbeaten league record to seven games and stay in third spot while Bont remain bottom of the table.

Morriston Town were unable to play West End as the Dingle pitch was waterlogged. The Cwm Wanderers v Giants Grave game was called off for the same reason.

Meanwhile, in the FAW Trophy, Evans & Williams were well beaten at home by Ardal South West club Baglan Dragons for the second time this season.

The Port Talbot side ran out comfortable 6-1 winners.

After holding firm for the first half an hour, the Albies found themselves three goals behind at half-time after John Parfitt, Joshua Williams and Jack Fleming found the net.

Things didn’t get any easier for the home side when goals from Williams and Joshua Evans extended the Dragons’ lead.

Mark Howells got a consolation for the Albies but Williams completed his hattrick to see Dragons through to round four in comfort.

The CK Swiss Valley v Cefn Cribwr tie in Llanelli was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
