A BURRY Port girl has been named Little Miss Teen Great Britain after beating girls from across the UK to the crown at the pageant competition final in Blackpool.

Twelve-year-old Enfys Chapman, who is a pupil at Llanelli’s Ysgol Y Strade, was stunned to be the winner.

She won awards for ‘best interview’ and ‘best fun fashion’ as well as the crown itself.

Enfys said: “It was my first ever pageant and I never expected to win, I have met some fabulous new friends and have gained so much more confidence in myself.”

Enfys was competing in the 10 to 12 age category of the competition, there were other older categories under the banner of Miss Teen Great Britain and the final was held at Blackpool’s Globe Theatre.

Often pageantry competitions are assumed to be based solely on looks, but judges, including reigning Junior Miss Galaxy UK Ellie Zachiesche and Tom Hui, executive and sponsor of Miss Teen Great Britain, were searching for more.

Enfys explained: “There are a whole range of things you are judged on. You have got your appearances within the community and your charity work then there is your interview which is 50% of your score and finally there is fashion wear and evening wear.

“As Little Miss Teen Great Britain you are meant to be a role model to other girls and as a national title holder you make appearances in England and Wales.”

Enfys said she hopes to use her platform to inspire other girls to be confident in their abilities and raise awareness of mental health issues such as anxiety and is particularly passionate about anti bullying and helping others affected by such issues.

She is no stranger to the stage, having been a student with Llanelli’s SA15 Stage School and also appearing at the National Eisteddfod of Wales for a recital which was broadcast on television.
