Johnstown into semis

-

JOHNSTOWN Ladies reached the semi-finals of the West Wales Cup thanks to a 9-2 victory over Pontardawe.

It was a fine performance from Johnstown, who had only one recognised defender in their starting lineup.

Ffion Kirk opened the scoring from a corner, with Cailey Clarke doubling the advantage after smart work by Chelsea Doherty. But Ponty hit back and a quickfire double strike saw them level early in the second half.

Morgan restored Johnstown’s advantage and from there they began to pull away.

Substitute Mila Roberts was then brought down in the area and captain Flavia Jenkins made no mistake from the penalty spot. Roberts then scored a sensational hat-trick in just eight minutes.

Doherty then volleyed in from 20 yards to make it 8-2 after a fine run from Ffion Davies, with Morgan rounding off the scoring as she lifted the ball over the keeper for her second of the game.
