Oak tree planting concludes events
LLANELLI’S Parc Howard Association concluded their Platinum Jubilee events by planting a red oak tree to celebrate the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
Chairman of the association Rev Eldon Phillips, welcomed the town mayor Cllr Philip Warlow and his consort, Cllr Jan William, members of the association, public and children from Penygaer and Old Road primary schools to Parc Howard.
After welcoming words from Cllr Warlow, the mayor and a poetry reading by Rev Phillips, the traditional spades of soil were added around the tree.
The association has also planted shrubs in the parkland over the coming weeks as a lasting memorial to the Queen. The association said it was grateful to have been given a community lottery grant for this jubilee year.
They hope that the public will enjoy the trees for many years to come.
