Wetlands Craft Fair This Saturday and Sunday. Browse stalls with beautiful handmade crafts, treat yourself to something special and help the Wetlands at the same time. Entry included in WWT admission. Free for WWT members and under-4s.

St David’s Day Food Festival At Pembrey Country Park this Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm. Live cooking demonstrat­ions throughout the weekend. We’ve got the best Welsh ingredient­s from Carmarthen­shire that will take your culinary skills to the next level. Whether you’re a seasoned chef or just a food enthusiast, mark your calendars and get ready for a deliciousl­y enlighteni­ng experience!

Garden Club Spring Show This Monday at 7pm at Pembrey Community Hall the Pembrey and Burry Port Gardening club are holding their members 29th annual spring show. There are nine classes at 50p an entry including hand painted stone with garden theme and six homemade Welsh Cakes. Open to members only but you may join on the evening, £3 at the door for non-members, and £2 for members which includes tips of the month, refreshmen­ts and a raffle ticket. Charity concert Burry Port Male Choir to perform at a Charity concert to be held on Saturday, March 9, at 7pm at Poppies (old British Legion building). Also performing are Cor Curiad, mezza soprano Myome Mortimer Davies, Johns’ Boys, baritone Matthew Budd, 3’s Company, Eugene Scourfield and Lizzie and the Liabilitie­s. Burry Port Band On Sunday, March 24, come and be a part of an exciting Brassed Off! Meets Bake Off! event.Tickets £12 include a delightful serving of tea and cake,as you enjoy the band’s performanc­e of lively popular music from 3pm in the Memorial Hall. Burry Port Male Choir The choir rehearse at 6.30pm on Mondays (excluding bank holidays) at the Burry Port Memorial Hall or small Pensioners Hall (subject to change). If you want to sing and join a great group of men,come along to our rehearsal. Nothing to worry about as there is no audition. Your town choir needs you!

Dance and Dancercise Classes Classes continue on Mondays and Wednesdays in Jerusalem Chapel Vestry but due to various changes please check. Children’s dance classes 5pm-6pm ages from 6-11 years, beginners country and western line, line dancing, Dancercise, ballroom and jive and more Please arrive 10 minutes early for each class so that each class can have the full hour. Balls of Fun Pembrey and Burry Port group will be meeting every Wednesday 7pm-9pm at the Shoreline Clubhouse. We’re looking for new members so come for a taster session (we’re happy to teach you something new), try the art of crochet,perfect your knitting skills,make new friends,make your community a more beautiful place to live in,experience what yarn bombing is or just come for some company if that’s your thing. It’s free and we’re a great bunch of very community orientated people.

Singing for the Soul Our friendly, informal group meet on the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 2pm to 4pm at the Jerusalem Chapel Vestry, Burry Port where there is plenty of parking. New members very welcome so do come and give it a try. We sing a wide range of music, with no expectatio­ns, no judgements, and no auditions. We offer an afternoon of singing uplifting, entertaini­ng songs in a group of like-minded people. No experience or commitment required, just £3 per session. Contact Dawn on 07773 312033.

NAAFI coffee morning These are held every last Wednesday of the month for the Armed Forces Community at the Ashburnham Hotel between 10am-noon. Nothing to join, just come and have a coffee and chat.

St Mary’s Community Clothing Coats, jackets, jumpers, scarves, hats, gloves, children’s items now available at the Memorial Hall,Burry Port usually open from 9am-11am every Wednesday. Please only children’s clothes donations can be accepted at the moment or can still be left in the porch of St Mary’s Church. Anyone in need of extra clothes are welcome.

Lighthouse Library Bookswaps We are usually open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9.30am2pm, Fridays 9.30am-noon, first and third Saturdays of the month 11am-2pm. Books two per person free and stamped, more than that or not stamped costs 50p per paperback and £1 per hard back. Donations of books, puzzles and games are welcome when we are open but please do not leave donations on door steps when we are closed. There is a cosy children’s corner with jigsaws, gifts,and games for a small charge. Hours liable to change as staffed by volunteers. Burry Port Opera We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm in the Memorial Hall, Burry Port (excepting bank holidays). Harbour Music and Poetry Our open mic weekly sessions are 7.30pm-10.30pm every Monday at Burry Port Yacht Club. It is a community project enabling people of all ages and abilities to share their musical and literary skills.

Burry Port Community Shop We are looking for help from 10.30am to 1pm just call into the shop on a Tuesday. Collaborat­ing with Fairshare and Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council, Food Forward Burry Port is a Lottery-funded project which will support residents in your area.The venue is 38 Station Road, Burry Port SA16 0LP. The opening times are every Tuesday between 11am and 4.30pm. £1 a year for membership then each week you will have the option of spending £6.50 or £8 for goods worth between £15 to £20. No referrals required. Bynea District Forum Craft Fair This Saturday sees us back at Saron Hall, Bynea for our monthly craft fair, open from 10am - 12:30pm with free admission. We will have regular, rotating and new crafters joining us. We pride ourselves on supplying customers with quality items from experience­d crafters who offer an amazing variety of specialise­d crafts. Are you looking for a gift for Mother’s Day or maybe an alternativ­e to an Easter Egg… Alternativ­ely a treat for yourself or something you may need for the home? Fabric craft, garlands, scented candles, felt work, Easter decorative items, decorative glassware, box framed designs, decoupage, silver jewellery, wood craft, ceramics, unique light pulls, letter openers, key rings, pens, honey dippers and ice cream scoops made from a variety of wood, Resin, Jesmonite, Acrylic and soft materials, Speciality Teas and ‘Ghost’ sculptures and not forgetting Pantri Anita and her traditiona­l Bakes, Bread, Pastries, Jams and Chutneys and of course Truly Scrumptiou­s with all those very naughty but extremely nice treats. Our cafe will be open for drinks and selection of delicious homemade cakes. First prize in this month’s raffle being a St David’s Day Hamper courtesy of Bynea District Forum. A warm welcome always.
