YOUNG HARRIERS STORM TO GOLD
PENLAN Arena in Brecon hosted the 119th Welsh Athletics Cross Country Championships.
Held previously at Singleton Park and Pembrey Country Park, the championships moved to Powys for the latest edition with around 800 athletes taking part.
Two primary school races in conjunction with Urdd Gobaith Cymru were also held at the start of the programme.
Carmarthen Harriers’ under-17 men won gold in the team event, with several others finishing in the top 10 of their respective age groups.

Attention for students moved to Sheffield and the British Universities Indoor Athletics Championships. Jessica Hyland and Lili Church, representing Swansea University and Cardiff Met University, qualified for finals in their respective events on day two.
Hyland took eight seconds off her previous best 3000m time, clocking a new lifetime best of 10:12.54.
Meanwhile, Church cleared a season’s best height of 1.69m to finish fourth in the high jump.
