CALLING all green-fingered gardeners in Loughborough! Is your front garden your pride and joy? Do you spend hours working on your window boxes? Well if so, this could be the competition for you.

The Loughborough Echo, along with Loughborough in Bloom Community Participation Group deputy chair Mike Jones, is searching for the most dazzling daffodils and greatest greenery as part of Loughborough In Bloom’s Best Spring Floral Displays competition.

The competition is being launched from today (Wednesday, March 15) and is open to front gardens and any home floral display, including window boxes, that can be seen by passer-bys.

All entries must be received by Friday, April 14, to be in with a chance of winning a cash prize.

Once the entry date has passed, judges will visit the town’s top fronts to assess var- ious aspects of them including the floral displays, sustainability and overall impact.

Echo editor and Loughborough in Bloom Board chair Andy Rush said: “We are encouraging all garden-proud locals to get involved with this year’s Best Spring Floral Displays competition.

“We know there are many people living in the town who put a lot of hard work into making the areas outside of their homes look bloom-ing brilliant and this is the perfect chance to show them off.

“Each year we are impressed with the standard of entries and we look forward to seeing what this year brings.”

The garden or floral display in first place will receive a prize of £25, second place will receive £15 and £10 will go to the third placed entrant.

Entries can be sent to Megan Cox at the Loughborough Echo, Prince’s Court, Royal Way, Loughborough, LE11 5XR.
