Town dig deep to register vital win in league

WITH LOUGHBOROU­GH needing a win to remain in the league and Harboune needing a win to stay in the race for promotion both teams were after a victory on Saturday.

Loughborou­gh started well with most of the play and creating a few early chances however it was Harborne that struck first with a short corner goal against the run of play putting them 1-0 in front early on. Loughborou­gh soon replied with a goal from Ryan Hatley, an excellent strike thumping in the bottom left of the goal past the Harborne goalie.

Harborne won another short corner but it was charged down by a determined Mike White who took a hit to the hand causing an injury that led to him leaving the game to go to hospital reducing Loughborou­gh’s squad. It wasn’t until later after missing numerous chances that Loughborou­gh scored again with a hit from Steve Livingston­e putting Town 2-1 up going into halftime.

Loughborou­gh came out for the second half confident after securing the first half lead but Harborne continued to pressure securing a number of chances which they failed to convert.

After the play going back and forth but with Loughborou­gh on top Steve Livingston­e scored his second goal of the game with another hit putting Loughborou­gh 3-1 in front of the visitors.

Towards the end Harborne got another goal making the score 3-2 and ensuring a tense finish.

After chances for both teams and strong defending from Loughborou­gh the score remained 3-2 and Loughborou­gh gained a needed victory.
