Plantation. The scheduled volunteer day was cancelled due to Storm Doris however ten volunteers attended on Sunday 5th March and helped to clear a large branch that had blown from a diseased tree and was hanging on a healthy tree near to the footpath.
Chippings were also cleared and spread around the site.
Martin Tree Care completed scheduled tree work along the school boundary and, in the immediate aftermath of Storm Doris, returned to cut up a tree that had fallen in the adverse weather conditions.
Students from Brooksby College will be coming over on Thursday 9th March, weather permitting, to plant trees, split up the snow drops and tidy log piles and fallen branches.
The next volunteer meeting is Thursday 16th March where any work not completed by the Brooksby Students will be tackled. The final, scheduled, volunteer day will be on Sunday 2nd April starting at 10am. Everyone welcome, there will be tasks to suit all ages and abilities.
Finally, the next Plantation Committee meeting will take place on Tuesday 14th March at 10.30 am. at the Pavilion. Everyone welcome!
Playing Fields Association event.
The Melstrum Ukulele Orchestra will be playing at Burton on the Wolds Village Hall on Saturday 1st April to raise funds for the Playing Fields Association.
Their eclectic repertoire ranges from skiffle, country, pop and folk to anything else that takes their fancy including the odd comedy number.
