Loughborough Town triumph

-

LOUGHBOROUGH TOWN 1ST XI 3 BOURNVILLE 2 SPURRED by a win in the previous week against high fliers Harborne, Loughborough Town were optimistic for their fixture against a resurgent Bournville.

The first part of the game did not go to plan as Loughborough struggled to get used to the pitch and the frantic tempo.

Loughborough were 2-0 down as the break approach when Clarkson drove hard to the baseline and into the D forcing the opposition to concede a short corner.

A well worked routine saw Capel turn the ball goalwards giving his team hope a second half turn around could be on the cards. On the whistle of half time Morris received the first of what would turn out to be two green cards for breaking down play in midfield.

The second half began in a much more promising manner for Town with Guy and Snow distributing the ball well into midfield. It took a moment of genius to level the sides, Hatley took down an aerial in the D with his back to goal before pivoting and unleashing a fantastic shot into the roof of the net leaving the goalkeeper dazed.

A few minutes later Allen stormed into the left side of the D picking firing a powerful reverse stick across the goal mouth which Hartley gladly turned into the goal.

Town were left with 10 minutes to defend their newfound lead. Resolute defending from Randall and Johnston kept Bournville at bay.

With a few minutes to go Bournville won a string of corners which were convincingly bear away by Vishal.

Town celebrated a great win, however other results mean that their fate, while still in their own hands, is to be decided next Saturday.
