Scoundrels hit the stage

-

GREASEPAINT Productions is to return to the stage of Loughborough Town Hall next week with one of the most hilarious shows to have hit the West End in recent times.

From Tuesday, May 16, until Saturday May 20, the group will be premiering Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - a production based on the classic 1988 film, which is widely thought of as one of the funniest of all time, starring Michael Caine and Steve Martin.

Greasepaint will transport audiences to the luxurious French Rivera, where sophisticated conman Lawrence Jameson’s decedent life comes crashing down with the arrival of larger then life Freddy Benson - a conman of entirely different order!

Soon realising the town isn’t big enough for the both of them, the pair engage in the ultimate con, pushing themselves to the limits to win the heart of American millionaire heiress Christine Colgate.

But have they let themselves in for more than they thought!?

Greasepaint welcomes back Lyndon Perry, who has played countless lead parts in the area including Emile in South Pacific and Bob Wallace in White Christmas, and he is to star as Lawrence.

Alongside him as Freddy is James Nelson - last seen playing Che Guevara in Evita and the Ringmaster in Barnum.

And, as the object of the boys’ affection, Christine Colgate is played by newcomer to the group Erica Makin.

Lawrence’s right hand man Andre is played by Sean Hickling, and another newcomer Jodie Blowfield plays Lawrence’s spurned lover Muriel.

Brash southern American Jolene is played by Jenny Nelson.

The show is directed and cho- reographed by Shane Perry who says the show is ”sophisticated, suave, hilarious with a good dash of mischief”.

Jeanetta Patrick Cooper also choreographs and James Stevens is in charge of David Yasbek’s score.

Tickets are available from Loughborough Town Hall Box Office on 01509 231914.
