Special events at garden centre
LEICESTER Rowena, a Wyevale Garden Centre, will be inviting children to get growing with a series of special events this May half-term.
The activities, aimed at children aged between three and eight-years-old, are designed to entertain, inspire growing imaginations and encourage little ones to engage with the joy of the garden.
Wyevale Garden Centres’ ‘Let’s Get Growing’ events offer Little Diggers the chance to make a colourful super seed bursters, grow their own giant strawberries and pizza toppings, plant a mini allotment and bake tasty savoury and sweet muffins.
If all of that doesn’t sound like enough fun for the half-term holidays, all events include a free activity sheet to take home or complete in centre. A full itinerary of events is as follows: • Let’s Get Growing - Super Seed Bursters; Monday, May 29, £2.50 (30-minute sessions). Get your hands dirty and mould these colourful creations to throw in your garden, creating a burst of beautiful flowers
• ‘Fee Fi Fo’ Yum Giant Strawberries; Tuesday. May 30, £2.50 (30-minute sessions). Grow your own supersized strawberries and get creative by making a strawberry marker and decorating a plant pot.
• Mr Mole’s Muffins; Wednesday, May 31, Thursday, June 1, and Saturday, June 3; £7.50 (60-minute sessions) includes a kids’ meal. Make and bake a tasty savoury and sweet muffin. Pick your favourite ingredients from herbs, carrots and cour- gettes to strawberries and blueberries.
• Grow Your Own Pizza Toppings; Friday, June 2, £2.50 (30-minute sessions). Plant a variety of pizza toppings, then decorate a fun gnome sun-catcher to use as a marker.
• Grow Your Own Mini Allotment; Sunday, June 4, £2.50 (30-minute sessions). Create and plant your own mini allotment patch complete with bean poles and even a greenhouse, then sit back and watch your veggies grow.
