Rams return to the top of Division One
SHEPSHED Rams are back on top of the Loughborough & District Bowls League Monday Division 1 table after defeating visitors Syston Fosseway 55-39 (6-2) at Charnwood Road.
East Leake Willows move up four places to third in the table following their emphatic 68-29 (8-0) win at Queens Park Queens, while the clash of the Birstall village sides St Margarets Maggies and Birstall Lighthouse went the way of the visiting team, Lighthouse winning 58-35 (8-0).
Shock result in Division 2 was at Holt Drive where home side Greenfields Badgers convincingly beat league leaders Quorn Weavels 73-38 (8-0) whilst in the other three games in this division all the teams shared the points equally. Belgrave Cygnets scraped home on shots 43-35 (4-4) against Brush Peregrines, St Margarets Saints won by the tightest of margins 53-52 (4-4) on their trip to Syston White Plum and Brush Hawks just pipped Thringstone Woodpeckers 52-48 (4-4).
Kegworth stride on at the top of Division 3 increasing the gap between themselves and second placed Birstall Sands to 14 points, Kegworth had a clean sweep 67-38 (8-0) on their visit to Mountsorrel to play Soar Valley Avons and Sands also took all the points defeating Phoenix Kingfishers 69-37 (8-0). In the remaining game Rothley Crusaders held off a spirited Greenfields Foxes to win 45-31 (6-2) at Leicester Road.
No positional changes in Division 4 where Wymeswold Steamers hang on to top spot following their 68-44 (8-0) home win against Shepshed Lambs with Sileby Swallows sitting two points behind them having secured a 56-34 (8-0) win over Soar Valley Conways. Belgrave Ringers returned home from their trip to Fosseway Romans with a 59-41 (6-2) victory but visitors Syston Green & Royals were not so lucky at Sutton Bonington where Riversiders took the spoils 50-44 (6-2).
St Margarets Maggies move into first place in the Thursday Division 1 following their 69-58 (8-2) victory against Wymeswold Wolds. In the tussle at the foot of the table, Brush Eagles collected the majority share of the points defeating Loughborough Greenfields 49-38 (6-4). Syston Fosseway stride on at the top of Division 2 with a good win 79-55 (8-2) at home against East Leake Willows but Sutton Bonington continue to chase them hard with another excellent win at their Landcroft Lane green, inflicting a 71-34 (8-2) score line against visitors Queens Park Carilloners.
Quorn Millers bounced back after a couple of bad results with an emphatic 86-46 (10-0) win at home to Sileby Swifts to move into third place. In the only game played in Division 3, Shepshed South travelled to Mountsorrel to play leaders Soar Valley but the home side were too good on the day, and finished up 56-32 (9-1) winners to extend their lead at the top to 12 points.
