BRITISH LEGION COFFEE MORNING. Kegworth Branch Royal British Legion held a coffee morning last weekend and chairman Andrew Moseley says they are very pleased to report that £154 was raised, which is much improved on last year’s total raised.
It was an extremely well frequented event and the Branch Committee would like to take this opportunity of saying a very big thank you to all who attended.
The funds will be used by the Royal British Legion to support those ex-service people and their dependents locally who need support.
CELEBRATING 40 YEARS OF FUND-RAISING. Kegworth’s Cancer Research group are celebrating 40 years of fund raising activity, and the fact they have raised more than £100,000 for the cause during that time.
A special meeting was held at the Donington Manor Hotel at Castle Donington to mark the important milestone in the group’s history, and at least one of those attending – Paula Wood – had been there on the occasion of the first meeting and who has been closely involved ever since.
Paul says she was a member of the original committee which started fundraising in 1977. “Over the years we have had lots of support from people who have given their time and efforts to raise funds for the charity and the total raised is in excess of £100.000. This would not have been possible without the help and support of the many people who have donated prizes for raffles and items for sale and bought tickets for the many functions which have been held over the years.”
Paula says she wants to give a big thank you to all who have helped them.
The group will be holding its annual Summer Fundraiser for Cancer Research UK on Saturday 3rd June, 10.30 to 4pm at 23 Heafield Drive Kegworth.
There will be cakes, books, bric a brac and plants for sale. There will also be a raffle. Any donations would be gratefully appreciated. Any queries please contact Paula Wood, 01509 673274.
