Financial report in the spotlight

-

SHEPSHED Town Council’s end of year financial report was discussed at the latest monthly meeting.

It was reported that during the last year improvements continued to be made to enhancing the playing facilities in the area with the installation of a Parkour Training Facility on Oakley Road Playing Fields, and additional play equipment in Glenmore Park aimed at younger children.

Improvements made at Oakley Road were paid for out of Section 106 monies from local planning applications and the new equipment at Glenmore Park was received from a Tesco Bags of Help community grant.

It was also reported that drainage works were carried out at Little Haw Lane Playing Fields.

The report was presented at the Shepshed Town Council meeting on Wednesday, June 7.

A spokesperson from the Town Council said: “The precept for 2017/18 is £290,584 - plus a Charnwood Borough Council grant of £6,170 - making a total of £296,754, which is just under £3,000 less than the previous year.

“Support continues towards the Glenmore Centre, Shepshed Volunteer Centre and Citizens Advice Bureau, all of which are valuable assets and benefit to the people of Shepshed.

“A small grant fund is available to Shepshed local groups and organisations and is considered twice a year.

“The Town Council welcomes any suggestions on how to improve the amenities which fall under their responsibility and jurisdiction.

“Please forward any ideas in writing for consideration.”
