Cars back in Market Place
FAMILIES flocked to Loughborough town centre to celebrate Father’s Day as more than 150 eye-catching cars, motorbikes and motor vehicles took over the Market Place at the annual Car Show.
Thousands of members of the public went along to the free event hosted by Love Loughborough who had teamed up with local car club Charnwood Cruisers to bring the car show to the town centre for the fifth year in a row on Sunday, June 18.
The winner of the car show this year was Len Granger, 75, from Nuneaton, and his Jaguar XK140.
Len said that he had only signed up to the car show at the last minute but was over the moon to have won.
He said: “It’s the first time I’ve been to Loughborough but I’ll defi- nitely be coming back.
“It is a great car show that they have got here.
“I’ve only had the Jaguar a few years but everywhere we go it gets people’s heads turning.”
Charnwood Cruisers was just one of the motoring groups there displaying cars and vehicles alike along with Loughborough Land Rover Club, Midland Buggy Club and for the second year in a row Team Modified UK displayed its range of souped up cars in the town centre.
Love Loughborough chairman Lez-Cope Newman told the Echo: “It has been another fantastic car show, and a really successful first event with our new team.
“We’ve had more cars here than ever before, and had a great reaction from everyone that has come along today.”
Love Loughborough BID support manager Nichola Gaffney said: ““I would like to thank everyone that has taken part and helped out this year, you have made it a wonderful day for everyone that has come along, and I would like to thank all the businesses for being brilliant as always too.”
