-

FIREFIGHTERS were called to Castle Donington on Thursday, September 14 after a vehicle overturned and ended up in a ditch.

A call was received just before 12.50pm to report the incident in Home Farm Courtyard, Castle Donington.

A pump from Long Eaton was sent and one from Coalville and on arrival an incident com- mander confirmed one vehicle overturned and was in a ditch.

A spokesperson from Leicestershire Police told the Echo: “We received a call at 12.51pm from the fire service.

The ambulance service was at the scene, a person sustained minor injuries.”

A spokesperson from East Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 12.38pm. The caller reported that there had been a road traffic collision.

“We sent a paramedic in an ambulance car, a crewed ambulance and our Hazardous Area Response Team, and one patient was treated at the scene.”

Firefighters left the scene at around 1pm after making the vehicle safe. A RYANAIR flight had to make an emergency landing at East Midlands Airport on Friday, September 15.

The plane had set off from London Stansted but had to land at the airport due to issues with landing equipment.

A spokesman for Ryanair told the Echo’s sister publication the Leicester Mercury: “This flight from Stansted to Copenhagen (September 15) diverted to East Midlands because of the loss of one of its two nose wheels after takeoff. The aircraft landed safely in East Midlands, customers disembarked and will board a replacement aircraft shortly.”

The plane circled Stansted multiple times before being redirected to East Midlands Airport.

Leicestershire Police was called to the incident at 9.56am and confirmed there was a report of “issues with the landing equipment” but said it had landed safely.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch sent a team to look at the Boeing 737 plane. A spokesperson from the airport later reported that it was “fully operational” again.
