Sorry Rothley but it’s your turn to have the housing now
IN RESPONSE to the article ‘Rothley village in danger of becoming a town’ surely the residents of Rothley have to accept that it is now their turn?
Ten years ago I lived in Barrow-upon-Soar and application after application which at first was declined, eventually was passed, despite residents concerns that the doctors and schools would simply be unable to cope.
The cruel truth is, they do. Whilst the services that they deliver might suffer, the village continues to grow and people are still more than keen to live there.
I left because access in and out of the village at peak times (particularly in times of flooding) became a daily struggle but many have not left and even more elect to move into the village.
So in response to Mr Allen’s concerns I would say that he has nothing to worry about. As far as I can tell Alpine Surgery in Mountsorrel does not have a formal list closure notice which would indicate they are ‘officially’ full, and they have the luxury of another GP Surgery in Mountsorrel. St Peter’s School in Mountsorrel was not oversubscribed last year and I am afraid we all have to accept that we are hopelessly short of social housing, so why shouldn’t some people who require it live in Rothley?
Yes, I agree we are losing so much of our countryside but according to the planners; there is plenty left! I’m sorry Rothley residents but now its your turn.
