EVOSTIK PREMIER LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SOUTH

NEWCASTLE TOWN 1 LOUGHBOROUGH DYNAMO 2 LOUGHBOROUGH Dynamo bounced back from a midweek home defeat at the hands of Alvechurch to bring back all three points from their away clash at Newcastle Town.

There was a lively start to the game as Dynamo went close to scoring within two minutes, Karl Demidh struck a lovely long pass towards Ash Hodgkinson, but home keeper Raajan Gill was alert, and came out to hoof the ball upfield as Hodgkinson closed in.

Then on nine minutes Paulo Piliero got a pass forward to Hodgkinson and his neat flick put Demidh through but his shot was saved by Gill.

Two minutes later and Alistair Smith got into game, won the ball in midfield and fed Demidh down the left, his cross was headed goalwards by Hodgkinson, but Gill saved and the ball was cleared.

But the pressure told and Dynamo took the lead in the 20th minute: Again Hodgkinson battled to flick a pass into the path of Luke Smithson who charged down the left wing to fire in a good low cross which flew into the net as Demidh , defender and goalkeeper challenged, Demidh getting the final touch and it was 1-0 to Dynamo.

There was a lot of effort from both sides before Dynamo extended their lead on 32 minutes - Demidh received the ball in the centre of the field and laid it into the path of Smithson on the left; Keenan tore forward, received the ball from Smithson and hammered a low cross across goal which was deflected into the net by the retreating Askey. Very unlucky and undeserved for the midfielder; but it was 2-0 to Dynamo.

Dynamo continued to dominate play, with Hodgkinson going close and the half ended with Dynamo on the attack and with Smith’s shot being blocked and comfortably saved by Gill.

Newcastle introduced Jordan Cole for the second half in an attempt to wrest the initiative from Dynamo.

The home side came out to get into the game and pressed Dynamo from the off but Dynamo were relatively comfortable until the 51st minute when they conceded a needless free kick just outside the penalty area in a central position.

Jordan Cole stepped up and drove an unstoppable shot into the bottom right hand corner to make 2-1 to Dynamo.

Seven minutes later the same player stepped up to take a free kick, in roughly the same position, but Will Jaaskelainen produced a terrific save low down to his right and Ricky Bridge could only screw the rebound wide of the goal.

With the work they had put in Dynamo had every reason to be tired, however in the last 10 minutes they created two more good chances and restricted the home side to the last corner of the game, which was thankfully hooked wide by Bailey, after which the referee blew for time and Dynamo had the three points.
