TIME is running out to enter the Don’t Muck Around Awards 2017 and celebrate the achievements of environmental heroes in Charnwood.

The awards, organised by Charnwood Borough Council, celebrate the efforts made across the borough to keep it free from litter and looking the best it can be.

We’re looking for those projects or ideas which have helped the environ- ment and the community, perhaps by making an area look better or cleaner. We also want to see initiatives which have involved working together between individuals, organisations, businesses and groups.

Alan Twells, head of regulatory services at the council, said: “The awards are a great way to celebrate residents’ achievements in protecting their local environment.

“I’d encourage people to get involved and put themselves or their group forward or if they know someone who you think should be recognised please nom- inate them.”

The deadline for entries is October 16. A celebration dinner will be held November 7 when all the finalists will be invited along.

The awards, which are once again sponsored by the Council’s waste partner Serco, have been running since 2013. The four categories are: Inspiring Others: This one is for projects which may have inspired individuals or whole communities. Tell us how your project has motivated others.

Working Together: This award is for those projects where people have worked together to achieve a positive result.

Inspiring the younger generation: This category is for projects involving young people

Sharing good ideas: This category rewards those who have shared ideas with others to help improve their area. The project or idea could be big or small, it doesn’t matter, what counts is that it’s had a positive impact on the environment.
