Camera club competition
FOR the members of Shepshed and District Camera Club an early meeting during November saw the fourth, and final, round of the 2017 Competition League, this time judged by Mandy Sherrington from the Sileby Photographic Society.
Mandy, as usual, gave an entertaining and interesting review of all the entries before selecting the
following images/prints to receive awards: Themed Subject - Architecture
1st. Sue Hutton, LRPS ‘Harpa, Reykjavik’ 2nd. Alan Harris 3rd. Alan Harris Highly Commended Kevin Padmore and Sue Hutton, LRPS Open Subject
1st. Garry Rennocks ‘Eddy Hall’ 2nd. Chris Coxon 3rd. Garry Rennocks Highly Commended Alan Harris and Chris Coxon One of the club members, Mike Gillingham, gave an interesting talk later in the month entitled ‘The Solent Ships and the Sea’.
Mike has his own yacht that he has been sailing in the Solent for many years and his excellent images and narrative gave the members a fascinating picture of many of the places in and around the Solent.
Sadly two years ago the club lost one of its founder members, and long standing chairman and treasurer, Peter Harvey and for the second time an in-club judged evening was held to select the best image of the year in order to award the Peter Harvey Memorial Trophy.
With an entry of 46 images each member present chose their own personal best first three and after the sums were completed the winner this time came out to be Kevin Padmore with his image ‘Storm Approaching’.
The club has a couple more meetings before the Christmas break including the annual dinner and award presentation and then returns to the council Offices in Charnwood Road from January 9.
