Town firm’s new Irish office ready for Brexit

A LOUGHBOROU­GH based company is preparing for life after Brexit by opening a new office in Ireland.

Cresco Innovation are a company based at the Advanced Technology Innovation Centre at Loughborou­gh University Science Park, and in a bid to secure business after Brexit, it has opened a new office in Galway.

The company specialise­s in securing grants for technology-based clients, business planning, IP advice, access to finance and funders, project management and IP commercial­isation support.

In a statement on the Cresco website it states: “We help client companies to identify opportunit­ies to develop new products and services, and then create a package of support to ensure that the idea is turned into a commercial reality.”

The company has now made plans to set up an office at the Business Innovation Centre at the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG).

Cresco said that a number of UK companies have already moved some of their business operations to Ireland in preparatio­n for Brexit, and that it saw its partnershi­p with NUIG creating new opportunit­ies for collaborat­ion between clients from the UK and Ireland.

Cresco CEO Jo Derbyshire said: “We are very excited to formally establish our Irish operations.

“We have been working with Irish clients for some time, and the opportunit­y of an office at the NUIG Business Innovation Centre is the ideal opportunit­y for us to build on the success we have enjoyed so far. Cresco Ireland is a key pillar of our Brexit strategy.”

Fiona Neary, manager of the Business Innovation Centre, said: “This is an exciting partnershi­p with Cresco as NUI Galway continues to transform healthcare and the Medtech ecosystem.

“Our vision is to create innovative medical technologi­es which are affordable and transforma­tive.

“This will bring us closer to the patient need, while also stimulatin­g innovation and job creation.”
