Festive run for Rainbows Hospice

-

THE England Women’s Cricket Team – who won BBC Sports Personality of the Year ‘Team of the Year’ earlier this month - ran 100km on Christmas Day – hoping to raise at least £2,000 for youngsters with life-limiting conditions.

The team visited Rainbows Hospice before its successful 2017 World Cup campaign and captain Heather Knight said: “The England Women’s Cricket Team are supporters of Rainbows hospice. We saw first-hand the fantastic work the hospice does for children, young people and their families.”

The team says it will also donate its tour fines money. “It is tradition that on every tour we go on we collect money from players and staff when they do or say something silly - we are very glad we can now put our stupidity to good use!” added Heather.

All fines money from the World Cup as well as the team’s Ashes tour down under is to be included.

But, says Heather: “We will be very grateful for any extra support, which is hugely appreciated for this very worthy cause.”

Andrew Ball, Rainbows Supporter Relations Director, commented: “We are bowled over by the ongoing support from Heather and the team – we can’t thank them enough and look forward to welcoming them again when their training schedule allows.”
