CAROLINE’S CORNISH COASTAL HIDEAWAY...
Caroline Quentin knows a thing or two about unusual properties. In the BBC show The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes, which she fronts with architect Piers Taylor, the actress has explored everything from a home built into a cliff in southern Spain to an underground house in New Zealand.
But what about her own interior tastes? Does she go for avant-garde style or a more traditional finish?
If Caroline’s Cornish holiday home is anything to go by she favours a clean, contemporary look with lots of light.
Her beautiful coastal property on the Lizard Peninsula has just gone onto the market offering an airy, open-plan feel and stunning sea views.
The cedar-clad detached bungalow has three bedrooms and a large open plan kitchen/ diner, all set in extensive, private gardens leading down to the Helford River. Originally built in the 1980s, the bungalow underwent a complete redesign in 2014 to create the perfect family holiday home. Caroline, her husband Sam Farmer – whom she met on the set of Men Behaving Badly 19 years ago – and their two children Emily and William enjoy spending holidays at the seaside property. When Caroline is busy working, the bungalow has been rented out as a holiday let. “The property has such a wonderful setting,” says Dave Rideout of estate agent Heather & Lay. “It’s very quiet with stunning views. It really is the ultimate ‘get away from it all’ property.” Caroline’s Cornish home is for sale at £695,000 via Heather & Lay (01326 319767).
