Family affair for Pretty Muddy event this Sunday

-

A CANCER survivor is celebrating coming to the end of her treatment by getting fit and filthy at Loughborough’s Race for Life Pretty Muddy – and she’s dragging her 10-year-old great niece through the mud with her.

Kristina Linnell, 45, and Poppie Linnell, 10, are taking part at the two events this Sunday, May 20, at Prestwold Hall.

The brand new Pretty Muddy Kids event – specially for children - kicks off at 9.45am, followed by the adults’ Pretty Muddy at 10.30am.

Kristina, who lives in Barrowupon-Soar, with husband Tim, has taken on the muddy challenge as a way of having fun and getting back to fitness after a year of cancer treatment. She is also keen to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK.

Excited to make a muddy splash with her great-aunt is 10-year-old Poppie.

Kristina’s sister-in-law Elaine Linnell, 64, who is Poppie’s grandma, will also be braving the kids’ course Poppie.

The Race for Life family of events also includes the traditional 5k and 10k Race for Life courses, which thousands of women will take part in at Loughborough Town Centre on June 10 and Victoria Park, Leicester, on July 8.
