Council invites artists to consider horse armature
CHARNWOOD Borough Council wants to commission an artist/maker to create an armature of a horse which will be covered by poppies created by children from across the borough.
The armature will be portable and will play a major role in the World War One centenary events in Loughborough on Sunday, November 11. The commission is based on a local war horse called Songster.
The armature will be life size and the artist/maker is expected to work with participating schools and children’s groups for the creation of the poppies and their installation.
The project funding is a maximum of £4,000 which should include the creation of the armature, its delivery, ongoing engagement with schools and local children’s groups, and the attaching of poppies.
Applications should be sent to Kevin Stanley at Charnwood Borough Council by Monday, June 11, 2018, at the latest. All application documents should be sent by email to Kevin.Stanley@charnwood.gov.uk
