Challenging schedule for Quorn triathlete

-

A QUORN triathlete has set out a challenging summer schedule for himself after battling back from two injuries.

Oliver Hatton (26) has suffered an achilles injury followed by a shoulder injury but is now back in training ahead of his first competition this summer.

He will compete at the Outlaw Half on May 20 which entails a 1.9km swim, a 90km cycling stage followed by a 21km run, with two further events in June and the Outlaw Triathlon on July 29 which will see Hatton tackle a 3.8km swim, a 180km cycling stage and a 42km run.

Hatton admits that his injuries have hampered the build up to the new season.

“The injury to my Achilles put me out of running for two weeks and took a month to return to full training, my cycling has progressed well over the winter so I am hoping to still see a personal best performance at the Outlaw half overall but I haven’t had the luxury of the longer interval work I would like so running the 21km run course in PB time will be a bit unknown but something I am still going to push to the max on the day and hope there is some form in the tank.

“Following my disappointment on not breaking 10 hours for the full distance race last year I am hungry to go back and put right the wrongs and get myself back on track, targeting a sub 9hr 30min time with plenty of time to get my running back on track for the end of July.”
