Boulter wins second title in three weeks

TENNIS ace Katie Boulter has reached a career high world ranking of 152 after winning her second ITF title in the space of three weeks.

The 21-year-old from Woodhouse Eaves won the $60,000 ITF event at Fukuoka, Japan on Sunday beating Russia’s Ksenia Lykina 5-7 6-4 6-2 in the final.

Boulter was the fifth seed in the tournament and started with a 4-6 6-4 6-4 win over Japan’s Yuki Naito, before a comfortabl­e 6-3 6-1 win over Australian Tammi Patterson which set up a quarter final clash with the top seed and British rival Naomi Broady.

Boulter took the first set 6-4 before Broady levelled the match taking the second set 6-3 before Boulter raced away with the third set 6-2.

In the semi final, Boulter beat Japan’s Momoko Kobori 6-1 6-4 to set up the final victory over Lykina.
