Police warning of suspicious emails

-

LEICESTERSHIRE Police has received reports of suspicious emails being received by the public claiming the sender has access to the victim’s computer.

The emails suggest the sender can access videos of a sexual nature on the computer, and the content includes a hyperlink and a demand for cash.

A police spokesperson said: “This type of email is commonly known as phishing.

“We would advise the public to remain vigilant, if you receive a similar email we would ask that you don’t click on any links or transfer any money.

“Incidents can be reported to Action Fraud online or contact 0300 123 2040. There is also some helpful advice on their website.”
