Pushball game is a battle of the sexes

A LARGE crowd turned out on Belton recreation field to watch a game of pushball and football between a team of men and women.

The, pushball involving a truly giant ball was a draw 1-1 and the women won the football match by 6-5 - thanks largely to the referee Roy Severn - according to the Echo.

The teams were, Ladies: M Darby, M Buck, E Woulidge, L Lewis, E Fletcher, J Webb, K Davis, P Martin, M Allard, J Jarram, C Allen, M Siddons, V Briggs, A Doughty, R Marshall and C Clarke.

Men: J Bonser, H Springthorpe, E Atkin, A Davis, F Allard, E Woulidge, F Lewis, M Briers, C Wainwright, G Darby and W Povey.
