Optometrist staff’s Hawaiian day for a worthy cause

-

STAFF at Loughborough optometrist Culver and Glass have visited LOROS Hospice in Leicester to hand over a cheque for £541.90 raised by the business and their patients at an Hawaiian-themed open day earlier this year.

The open day was arranged as a thank you to their loyal patients as principal optometrist Natalie Glass celebrated her 21st year with the practice.

The open day was a huge success with patients dropping in to celebrate with a glass of fizz and slice of cake, as well as joining in with a raffle and tombola with prizes donated by optical suppliers and local businesses, Chocolate Alchemy, Bliss Hair and Peter Pizzeria.

The former Mayor of Charnwood, Coun Pauline Ranson, showed her support and drew the raffle.

All guests who attended the event received goodie bags which included a traditional Hawaiian lei.

On the day of the cheque handover, team members were shown around the hospice to see some of the charity’s great work in action and find out more about what they do

Samantha, event coordinator at Culver and Glass, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed organising and attending the open day, getting chance to mingle with our patients and the local community.

“For me, the really special part was meeting the fund-raising team at LOROS and seeing the charity in action.

“Everything about the morning, from the hospice itself to the atmosphere in general, was so relaxed and had such positivity. We look forward to working with the charity again in the future.”
