A FILM which was shot entirely in and around Loughborough is to receive its world premiere in town.

Raya Films have announced that their debut feature film Do Something, Jake will premiere at the Odeon Loughborough on Thursday, September 20, at 6pm.

The producers have been working hard for nearly three years to complete the film.

Do Something, Jake has recently achieved a British Board of Film Classification rating of ‘15’ enabling the screening to be scheduled and tickets to go on sale.

Producer/screenwriter Caroline Spence said: “This will be a big event for the town.

“Most UK premieres take place in London, but this is not only the UK premiere but also the world premiere. The decision to hold this event in Loughborough was easy to make, however, as the people of Loughborough made this happen with their generosity and enthusiasm.”

Do Something, Jake is the debut feature film from director James Smith and Caroline Spence, who work under the banner of Raya Films. It was an ambitious project because it was shot on zero budget with a large, international cast and expansive locations.

A spokesperson added: “With a mix of humour, noir and criminal menace, Do Something, Jake offers a fresh angle on the UK crime thriller - a British film that does not feel ‘British’.

“This, helped by Hollywoodinspired screenwriting and bold cinematography, plus the appearance of award winning New York actor Ed Bergtold (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), and post-production crews from Europe and Los Angeles. Do Something, Jake is the feature film debut for Raya Films.”
