A HOME care company which provides support for older people in Charnwood, Loughborough and Coalville has been awarded the highest national accolade in the care sector - just 14 months after its launch.

Home Instead Senior Care, owned by Charlotte Johnson, was inspected by the independent care sector regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC), in May and inspectors found Home Instead to be simply the best.

Only two per cent of home care providers inspected by the CQC have been awarded the coveted ‘outstanding’ rating. Inspectors spoke to clients, their families and the Home Instead team about the company.

Charlotte said: “I am thrilled that in just over a year, our service has received an outstanding rating. I am incredibly proud of our hard working team and pleased to see their passion and true dedication being recognised in this way.

“We take great care in ensuring all our caregivers are matched with their clients so they share like-minded interests. We see wonderful relationships based on all manner of things such as socialising, baking, knitting, gardening and even cleaning.

“People should have options, bespoke care with a holistic approach, which is just what we offer. We are also expanding our service so that we can now provide live-in, 24 hour care. I wanted this to be the best of care companies and it seems we are getting it right.”

Home Instead provide specialist dementia care and inspectors were impressed with how Home Instead plays an active role in the community, working with other services to raise the awareness of dementia.

They also saw how the team had created a free companionship café which is held on a quarterly basis and is open to all. The aim of the café is to help combat loneliness and isolation for older people.

In summing up the caring nature of the business, inspectors wrote: “People were provided with exceptional care and support, tailored to meet their personal wishes and preferences, hobbies and interests. They were encouraged to maintain good health and to partake in meals they enjoyed and to maintain a healthy, balanced diet. The management team not only cared about their clients, but for their caregivers as well.”

Home Instead has a national network of over 195 offices, providing companionship-led care to older people.
